My name is Vanessa Villalba, and I’m a junior at Saint Joseph Preparatory in Brighton. I transferred to SJP last year and I’m loving it there. I’m involved in the Campus Ministry and I’ve met some of my closest friends there.

Outside of school, I’m a Girl Scout and I’m involved in the Youth Choir at St. John-St. Paul Collaborative. I’ve been playing the clarinet for about 8 years now and I do Jiu Jitsu which helps me to stay centered.

I’m very excited for World Youth Day; I can’t wait to see people my age that share the same belief that I have and get to know them. I’m also excited to see Portugal; I want to get to know the history and culture of the country. I’ve never been to WYD before but I’ve heard a lot about it and it sounds really fun and a life-changing experience. I believe this experience will bring me closer to my faith, God and my community.

I’m so excited to go and I feel very blessed to have this opportunity. Without the church, community, and the group leaders this wouldn’t be possible so thank you all!
