Confirmation is one of the sacraments of initiation, along with Baptism and Eucharist. It is conferred by the anointing of Chrism oil and the laying on of hands by the Bishop. Confirmation is the sacrament of initiation by which we receive the gifts of the Holy Spirit to strengthen us for carrying out Christ’s mission.

The typical age for the reception of the Sacrament of Confirmation is now Grade 8 in the Archdiocese of Boston, and children are prepared through the Children’s Faith Formation program.

Adults prepare for the Sacrament of Confirmation through the O.C.I.A. Program.
