My name is Abby Coleman, and I am a sophomore at Wellesley High School. I moved to Wellesley in the summer before middle school and since then I have joined the cheer team with my high school, cheering on our football team and taking part in community events. I also love to dance and sing in the Youth Choir at the Sunday 5pm Mass with the St. John – St. Paul collaborative.

I am so excited to be part of the World Youth Day trip this summer to Lisbon, Portugal. My faith has always been a big part of who I am, and prior to moving to Wellesley I used to attend a small Catholic parochial school in Connecticut where my faith was established and strong. However, when I moved to Wellesley, my faith became more distant than it used to be and I noticed myself not growing my relationship with God and my faith like I used to.

After Covid when I started my Confirmation journey I started attending Mass every weekend and was invited to join the Youth Choir. Little did I know I would not only build new friendships there, I would also be given an amazing opportunity – World Youth Day – where I am able to travel to a place with many young adults like me who want a good relationship with God and with their faith.

This experience, like many have and will say, is “going to change my life” and I cannot wait to experience it with other young adults who have the same beliefs and dedication to their faith as I do.

Please consider sponsoring me and supporting this pilgrimage with your donations and your prayers.

Thank you to all of the people who are making this pilgrimage possible!
