History of the St. John and St. Paul Conference of the Society of Saint Vincent de Paul

Our St. John and St. Paul Conference (local chapter) of the International Society of Saint Vincent de Paul was started over five years ago to extend Christ’s ministry to those struggling to get by in our community. Under the leadership of Fr. Robert Blaney several members of both parishes met to learn more about the starting of a Conference of Saint Vincent de Paul Society. This ministry at its core is centered on the confidential home visit to our friends in need by two of our members, dating back to the 19th century tradition when Blessed Frederick Ozanam initiated the home visit so members could understand directly the needs of our friends.

Our conference of Saint Vincent de Paul was led by founding President Michael Mastrianni with Margaret Klingmeyer as Treasurer. The Society members began to meet on a monthly basis to grow in holiness and help serve those in need who contacted the conference…

Celebrating St. Vincent de Paul: The History

As Christians we are called to minister to the poor and needy among us. The parable of the Good Samaritan offers a prime example of the ministry Jesus envisioned. Throughout more than two millennia, service to the poor has been an important component of all Christian ministries. Guided by the vision and leadership of St. Vincent de Paul and Blessed Frederic Ozanam, a world-wide Vincentian community carries out its mission of service to the poor while fostering spiritual development of all its members.

St. Vincent is recognized as the “Apostle of Charity” and “Father of the Poor,” as well as being named patron of all works of charity by Pope Leo XIII in 1885. Vincent de Paul was canonized by Pope Clement XII in 1737. St. Vincent de Paul’s Feast Day is September 27…

Paul introduces Phoebe as sister, deacon and patron. Deacons are purveyors of Liturgy, Word and Charity. They see what needs to be done in God’s name. Theirs is a ministry of service. Phoebe served as a mother of the ancient Church, preaching the Good News of Christ’s resurrection. Sunday 9:00am Family Mass Music Opportunities

Children and adults blend voice and instruments to praise the Lord and enrich our Sunday 9:00am Family Mass with upbeat, child-friendly, hand-clapping hymns. We rehearse each Sunday Morning at 8:30am in the church to prepare for that day’s 9:00am Mass (no need to commit to every Sunday), and we also prepare special liturgies for Grade Level Masses, Advent, Christmas, Lent, Palm Sunday and Easter.

All ages, Grade 1 and older, are welcome! We are always seeking new singers and instrumentalists to join our ranks.

Archdiocese of Boston Emmaus Ministry Spiritual Retreat for Grieving Parents – October 15 in Braintree

The Archdiocese of Boston Family Life team invites all parents who have lost a child to a one-day retreat led by Emmaus Ministry. Parents who have lost a child of any age, by any cause, no matter how long ago, are most welcome and invited to attend.

Losing a child of any age is horrific to endure. Focusing on the spirituality of the grieving process can help tremendously. Just as He comforted his grieving disciples on the road to Emmaus, Jesus comforts us and we comfort one another in this very special ministry.

Join other Emmaus parent companions in a warm and loving environment to think, to talk, to feel, and pray together. Find compassion, rest, and peace… at least for a time.

St. Paul Adult Choir

St. Paul Adult choir will be resuming their Music Ministry after the summer vacation. Rehearsals are Thursday evening from 7:30 to 9:00pm in the church and we sing at the 11:00am Mass every Sunday.

The first rehearsal is Thursday, September 8th and we will sing our first Mass on Sunday, September 11th.

We welcome new members to come and be a part of this wonderful Ministry. If you love to sing come join us. He who sings prays twice.
