Since 2017, our Collaborative has been a part of the Nuestros Pequeños Hermanos (NPH) family, helping to transform the lives of vulnerable children throughout Latin America and the Caribbean through the generous support and sponsorship of our parishioners. Meaning “Our Little Brothers and Sisters” in Spanish, Nuestros Pequeños Hermanos transforms the lives of children in Bolivia, the Dominican Republic, El Salvador, Guatemala, Haiti, Honduras, Mexico, Nicaragua, and Peru. Partnering with NPH, families in our Collaborative sponsor over 100 children, helping them to
overcome poverty and become productive, caring leaders in their own communities.

To continue helping in the vital work of NPH, our Collaborative will be taking up a special second collection at Masses on April 27- 28 to help fill a deficit gap in NPH’s food program. Operating in countries where almost 47% of overall children are living in poverty, hundreds of thousands are orphaned, and most do not know where their next meal is coming from, NPH provides food, a home, and medical assistance while allowing an education and career empowerment to help these children not reenter the same cycle they were born into.

Among the communities NPH serves, malnutrition is a vast problem that leads to significant health issues. In Guatemala, for instance, 55.9% of the population suffers from food insecurity which leads 43% of children to experience physical and mental stunting. In Haiti, malnutrition has increased in children under 5 by 61% in the last year.

Each day, NPH provides nutritious meals and food baskets for 8,000 children and adults who might not otherwise eat. Annually, this equates to nearly 6 million meals served by NPH! At every main home for children, NPH offers a sustainable farming option which helps harvest 15-30% of the food needed at that home. The remaining food needed must be purchased, which costs $2 million annually.

Please prayerfully consider supporting NPH so that the children they serve can have their most basic needs met.

Donations may be placed in the Second Collection at all Masses this weekend of April 27-28 (please make checks payable to your parish and note NPH in the memo) or dropped at/mailed to either parish office.

Or, donate online at any time through your parish’s online giving program!
