And we’re off!
We gathered at St. Paul Church this morning to celebrate a beautiful “Sending Forth” Mass with Fr. Jim, Fr. Gabriel, our families, and many of the parishioners who have supported us financially and spiritually over the past year as we prepared for this pilgrimage. The excitement and joy were palpable!
After Mass we shared a delicious pre-flight lunch in the Parish Hall before boarding the bus to head to Logan ✈️
The airport was busy as expected on a summer Friday, and bustling with WYD pilgrims. Our SJSP WYD shirts definitely drew attention – and helped get our whole group through security at once! (Someone asked if we were some kind of musical group!)
As I write this, we are somewhere over the Atlantic and hopefully our young pilgrims are grabbing some sleep because tomorrow is going to be a busy day! When we land Saturday morning we will be boarding a bus that will take us first to Santarem and then on to Fatima where we will spend the next two nights.
Our next blog update likely won’t be until Saturday evening when we ‘re settled into our hotel for the night, but be sure to check our Instagram feeds for pictures and posts during the day!
