SVdP Home Visits

Our St. John-St. Paul SVdP brought palms, flowers, friendship, and prayer to members of our Collaborative community who are homebound for Palm Sunday.

A prayer service that included the blessing of the palms and special guest speaker, Tom Dwyer, Executive Director of A Faith That Does Justice, sent volunteers forth into the community.

A Holy Week Reflection by Sister Colleen Gibson, SSJ

A Holy Week Reflection by Sister Colleen Gibson, SSJ

By the time Lent comes to a close, we can feel worn down and ready to simply turn the page on an all-too-familiar story. Yet, to truly enter into Holy Week, we must confront the power of paradox. We must grapple with the Paschal Mystery and its ever-present invitation to us: to die and rise with and in Christ.

This is the story, not only of this holiest of weeks, but of our entire lives of faith. Opening our eyes to the world around us, we witness the betrayal; we intuit the suffering; we account for the lengths to which faith and fear can push us; and we find that Christ, our companion and our guide, is with us always… beckoning us to new life. Be it the washing of feet, the breaking of bread, the sting of suffering, or the quiet of grief: Christ is there…

Family Faith Formation: Living Vocation

Family Faith Formation: Living Vocation

In these final sessions of Family Faith Formation for the 2025-2026 year, we have been talking about living vocation – recognizing and becoming who God has called us to be in this world.

Fr. Jim, Sr.  Colleen, and Kelly shared their own unique experience of the call to vocation, and we talked about how each of us can think about and nurture our own vocations in the context of faith, family and community.

If you missed the session or would like to hear about  Fr. Jim’s story of the first inkling of his vocation to the priesthood at the age of 5, or Sr. Colleen’s story of life with 400 sisters, you can watch the recording here on our website.

Young Adult Ministry: March “Theology at the Table” Gathering

Young Adult Ministry: March “Theology at the Table” Gathering

Our Young Adult Ministry has been busy this Lent! From the weekly Practicing Lent series exploring different prayer styles to the latest installment of Theology at the Table, our young adults have been diving deeper into their faith lives and building community in the process.

This past Saturday, the group welcomed Kelly Meraw, SJSP Director of Pastoral Care, who shared about Women in Ministry: Past, Present, and Future. The evening was a blessed sharing of stories that invited all involved to better understand the way God calls us and how the ongoing discernment around women and the diaconate can give voice to God’s call in a particular way!

Holy Thursday Washing of the Feet – Volunteers Needed

Holy Thursday Washing of the Feet – Volunteers Needed

On Holy Thursday we celebrate the institution of the Holy Eucharist. We also commemorate a moment of profound humility, servant leadership, and spiritual cleaning when our Lord washed his disciples’ feet. In this ritual, also known as the Mandatum, the feet of 12 parishioners are washed.

If you would like to be part of this sacred moment in the Holy Triduum at our Holy Thursday liturgy on Thursday, April 2nd at 7PM, we warmly invite you to participate. Please email:

Our Teen Reconciliation And Worship Service

Our Teen Reconciliation And Worship Service

Each year during Lent, our Youth Ministry team invites all teens – particularly those preparing to receive the Sacrament of Confirmation in the spring – to experience God’s love and mercy in the Sacrament of Reconciliation. This year more than 60 teens participated.

After an opening prayer and welcome from Christian Wilson, our Sunday 5pm Youth Music Coordinator and member of the Youth Ministry team, Elsi Ojanen, our Interim Coordinator of Youth Ministry, shared a reading from scripture and offered a short reflection, providing a taste of what is to come in Youth Ministry for our 8th graders. Kelly Meraw, Director of Pastoral Care and Liturgy, then led the teens through an Examination of Conscience to prepare for the Sacrament…
