Helping a Family from Afghanistan

Helping a Family from Afghanistan

We are pleased to announce that our Collaborative Service Commission and POWIR committee have decided to sponsor a refugee family from Afghanistan. Once again, we will be partnering with Catholic Charities in this effort. This year Catholic Charities is collaborating with the Jewish Community Relations Council. Our brothers and sisters at Temple Beth Elohim of Wellesley will also be sponsoring a family and we are looking for creative ways to work together!

Our POWIR co-chairs Barbara Viechnicki and Barbara Weidlich will be looking for as much engagement as possible from parishioners. We implore you to lend a hand. We need your help for this important act of mercy.

All military veterans and their families are cordially invited to attend a special Veterans Memorial Mass at St. Paul Church at 4:00pm on Saturday, October 2. Organized by the Wellesley Veterans’ Council, this annual event brings Wellesley veterans together as part of the annual Wellesley Wonderful Weekend. Veterans are invited (but not required!) to wear their uniforms. We will gather in the St. Paul foyer and process in with the celebrant to reserved seats down front.  During the Mass we will remember those veterans from Wellesley who gave their lives for our country. We salute your service to our country and look forward to seeing you at St. Paul on October 2.

Rite of Christian Initiation of Adults (RCIA)

Have you been worshiping with us, but never officially taken the step to become Catholic?
Have you been away from the Church, and have now returned, but want to know more?
Have you been a Catholic all your life, but never celebrated all the Sacraments of Initiation (Baptism, Confirmation, Eucharist)?
Have you joined us from a different background and would like to find out more about the Catholic Church?

If you (or someone you know) answers YES to any of these questions, you are invited to find out more through process called the Rite of Christian Initiation of Adults (RCIA)…

CARDINAL SEÁN P. O’MALLEY STATEMENT ON HAITI

CARDINAL SEÁN P. O’MALLEY STATEMENT ON HAITI

On September 6, I was able to visit Haiti to meet with Cardinal Langlois of Les Cayes, to survey the challenges now confronting the Haitian people and to express the solidarity of the Archdiocese, home to one of the largest Haitian communities in the United States, with the Church and the nation of Haiti. I was delighted to spend time with a fine young priest in Haiti, Fr. Louis Merosné, who was raised in St. Angela Parish in Mattapan and then returned to Haiti to pursue a vocation to the priesthood.

Even a brief visit two weeks ago vividly illustrated the threefold crisis now in Haiti…

Are you called to comfort the grieving by serving at the Altar for funeral Masses?
Do you want to steward financial offerings by gathering the collection?
Have you been waiting for a specific call to serve?

THIS IS THAT CALL!
