Our life is made up of time, and time is a gift from God,
so it is important that it be used in good and fruitful actions.

(Pope Francis)

We are living in a digital world. Now, more than ever, we are dependent upon technology to help us connect with others and stay in touch. That being said, Pope Francis reminds us that spending too much time with technology can “overload” us and lead to “mental pollution.”

Real relationships cannot be replaced with the internet. In these days of social distancing and more time with family, it is important to use this time to deepen our personal relationships with those around us and love generously. It is also a time to deepen our relationship with God. We can pray without words and just be with God. When asked how she prayed, St. Thérèse of Lisieux replied “I just Love Him.”

Pope Francis recommends that we each take one hour per day to “unplug.” If we put away our devices, focus on prayer and interacting with family, we can draw closer to God and each other. Let us not forget that time is a gift and how we spend it will impact not only our happiness, but also our engagement with life.
