Join us for Our Collaborative Thanksgiving Day Mass at 9:00am at St. John Church

This year, our Collaborative Thanksgiving Day Mass will be on Thursday, November 24 at 9:00am at St. John the Evangelist Church and will feature our Collaborative Choir and Musicians – all are invited to join together in thanksgiving for our many blessings. (The Mass will be livestreamed for those who may be travelling – click the St. John Livestream link to watch!)

This year, we ask you to consider sharing your blessings by bringing a non-perishable item for the Waltham Food Pantry, which is currently in desperate need of canned goods and other non-perishables and unopened household and toiletry items…

Please Note: This will be the only daily Mass on Thanksgiving Day – there will be no 7:00am Mass at St. John.

“Who is Mary, Mother of God?” A Small Group Opportunity During Advent Beginning November 30

“Who is Mary, Mother of God?” A Small Group Opportunity During Advent Beginning November 30

Wednesday Mornings at St. Paul Parish
9:45–11:00am (following the 9:00am Mass)
November 30th – December 21st

Mary was an ordinary girl who was asked to become the mother of God. She chose to accept. She models the receptive heart, one of strength, conviction and compassion. Mary inspires us to develop our own gift of listening and experiencing God. We are otherwise tempted to live for ourselves and at the whims of our culture. In this five week Advent program we will reflect on select scripture passages in the Gospels of Luke and John. With prayer, sharing in the intimacy of a small group, and personal revelation, we can deepen our relationship with Mary and realize her extraordinary companionship in our lives.

Save the Date! Trees & Trimmings – Saturday, December 3rd

For nearly 50 years, Saint John School has hosted our Annual  Trees & Trimmings Christmas Market. Trees & Trimmings  brings together our SJS Families, Alumni, Faculty and Staff, St. John-St. Paul Collaborative, and our neighbors as we celebrate the season while supporting the Saint John School.  In addition to the trees and greenery offerings onsite,  Trees & Trimmings also offers opportunities to pre-purchase greenery items, raffle tickets, and silent auction items online.

The proceeds raised from Trees & Trimmings support the Saint John School through direct contribution to the school’s operating budget, community activities, and enrichment opportunities for the students and teachers…

We are regretfully cancelling our Collaborative “Evening for Women” program scheduled for tomorrow (Tuesday, November 8) due to the low numbers of RSVPs for the event.

We are looking forward to rescheduling our speakers, the Reverends Kate Layzer and Alex Steinert-Evoy, who will share with us about Friday Café (a ministry to those experiencing homelessness in Cambridge, MA) at a later date.

“Evening for Women” – Tuesday, November 8 at 6:00pm at St. John

All women of the Collaborative are invited to gather to learn about the “Angels Among Us” who oversee The Friday Café at First Church Cambridge. Rev. Kate Layzer, Minister of Street Outreach, and Alex Steinert-Evoy, Community Minister, will share the work they do at this weekly, daytime drop-in program. The Friday Café offers a welcoming space where homeless and housed adults can gather and get to know each other.  Serving an average of 150 guests a week (or as many as 300 on winter Fridays), it offers food, coffee, rest and resources to people living on the margins.

Reflection and presentation will be followed by a pot-luck dinner.  RSVP to Carolyn Anderson at andersoncarolyn@verizon.net or 617-705-0456
