In 2024, the Archdiocese of Boston announced that the ordinary age of Confirmation would be lowered from Grade 10 to Grade 8. This change was made to facilitate a renewal in family engagement in the life of the parish, especially Sunday Mass, and a renewal of youth ministry within parishes – one that goes beyond sacramental preparation.
Over the past few weeks 234 young people in Grades 8-12 received the Sacrament of Confirmation with Bishop Robert Reed in three separate liturgies – including two at St. John on the same evening!
Please keep them in your prayers as they continue to be filled with the Holy Spirit and grow in their faith.

From May 24-31, we celebrate the 10th anniversary of Pope Francis’ encyclical, Laudato Si’ – his powerful call for us to care for God’s creation, humanity’s common home. Our new Holy Father, Pope Leo, has also stressed the need to move “from words to action” on protection of the environment. We invite you to visit our Care for Creation page on the Collaborative website for more information and related resources.
Get inspired to put your faith into action! The Boston Chapter of the Laudato Si’ Movementwill host a showing of the award-winning film The Letter via Zoom. All military veterans and their families are cordially invited to attend a special Veterans Memorial Mass at St. Paul Church at 4:00pm on Saturday, May 21. Organized by the Wellesley Veterans’ Council, this annual event brings Wellesley veterans together as part of the annual Wellesley Wonderful Weekend. Veterans are invited (but not required!) to wear their uniforms and gather in the St. Paul foyer to process in with the celebrant to reserved seats at the front of the church.
During the Mass we will remember those veterans from Wellesley who gave their lives for our country.

The Ignatian Volunteer Corps (IVC) New England offers a unique opportunity for retired or semi-retired individuals to use their skills, wisdom, and experience to serve communities in need. Through part-time service and reflection in the Ignatian tradition, IVC members build community, engage in work that matters, and embrace this next chapter in life with renewed vitality.
IVC connects adults 50+ with social service nonprofits, allowing them to make a meaningful impact while deepening their own sense of purpose and spirituality. New England Ignatian Volunteers ordinarily commit to two days per week of service in parishes, schools, or nonprofit organizations working directly with those experiencing poverty or marginalization, or in the pursuit of social justice. The service commitment takes place over a ten-month period…
