Our Saint John School Confirmation Cohort: Integrating the Corporal Works of Mercy into Christian Service

Our Saint John School Confirmation Cohort: Integrating the Corporal Works of Mercy into Christian Service

Last Sunday night, the Saint John School Confirmation Cohort (a group of SJS graduates preparing together to receive the sacrament of Confirmation this spring) was joined by Brother Anthony Zuba OFM and Amanda Grant Rose of the Capuchin Mobile Ministries.  Brother Anthony shared his own call to vocation in the Franciscan order and its solidarity with those who are most vulnerable in our communities.

As our SJS Grads continue to learn about the fullness of their reception as Catholic Christians into the Church, the group is discovering ways to integrate The Corporal Works of Mercy into their Christian service. Assisted by the Gifts of the Holy Spirit, the students imagined ways in which they might live out Catholic Social Teaching…

Catholic Schools Week: Fr. Gabriel and Sr. Colleen Share Vocation Stories with SJS Students

Catholic Schools Week: Fr. Gabriel and Sr. Colleen Share Vocation Stories with SJS Students

As part of this year’s Catholic Schools Week celebrations, Sr. Colleen and Fr. Gabriel visited with the 5th and 6th grade students at Saint John School to share about their own vocation stories and the call to priesthood and religious life. The group had a great discussion about how each of us is called by God and how Sister and Father live out their vocations each day.

The girls and boys at SJS had wonderful questions for their guests, including how old you have to be to be a priest/sister, what languages they speak, and what kind of jobs sisters and priests do. What a joy to share this time together celebrating vocations!

Trees & Trimmings: Saturday, December 7, 8:00am-1:30pm

For nearly 50 years, Saint John School has hosted our Annual  Trees & Trimmings Christmas Market. Trees & Trimmings  brings together our SJS Families, Alumni, Faculty and Staff, St. John-St. Paul Collaborative, and our neighbors as we celebrate the season while supporting the Saint John School.  In addition to the trees and greenery offerings onsite,  Trees & Trimmings also offers opportunities to pre-purchase greenery items, raffle tickets, and silent auction items online.

The proceeds raised from Trees & Trimmings support the Saint John School through direct contribution to the school’s operating budget, community activities, and enrichment opportunities for the students and teachers…

Celebrate Catholic Schools Week!

Celebrate Catholic Schools Week!

Catholic schools have an irreplaceable role in the Church’s evangelizing mission. Building on the central goal of Catholic schools to form saints, Catholic schools teach and embrace the whole person, body, mind, and spirit. The fact that all members of a Catholic school community share the Christian vision of faith that Christ is the foundation of Catholic education is what unites the school as a faith-filled community.

This week, we celebrate Saint John School in a special way…

Memorial Day 2023

Memorial Day 2023

In keeping with tradition, a Saint John School family has sponsored the set up 1,000 American flags on the St. John the Evangelist Church lawn in honor of veterans from Wellesley and surrounding communities who have given their lives in service to our country.

We remember those who have made the ultimate sacrifice for the freedoms we enjoy every day.

We pray that God will hold our service men and women in His strong arms, and cover them with His sheltering grace and presence.
