An Exciting Update on “City of Goodness” in Ukraine!

An Exciting Update on “City of Goodness” in Ukraine!

As you know, our 2023 Collaborative Lenten Gift Collection was for the benefit of Misto Dobra (“City of Goodness”) in Ukraine, which provides a home for displaced mothers and children (and their pets!), including victims of domestic violence and those who, due to poverty, face the threat of having their children removed and placed in orphanages. Since the invasion almost 2 years ago, it has also served hundreds of women and children displaced by the war, as well as children orphaned by the violence. City of Goodness provides protection, medical care, psychological support, social rehabilitation, and love.

We learned that City of Goodness was working on a new project – a facility to provide medical care and rehabilitation for medically fragile children. In early summer, our Lenten Gift of $37,678 was presented to Ukraine Forward to disperse to City of Goodness for this effort. In October, we were excited to learn that the project was nearing completion…

Our February Evening for Women Program: “Potluck Prayer”

February 6, 2024 at 6:30PM
All women of the collaborative are invited to an hour of “Potluck Prayer”. “Potluck Prayer” is a Holy Hour of Eucharistic Adoration with an invitation for all gathered to share music, poems, readings, art, and anything else that may be preparing our hearts for our Lenten journey or inspiring our prayer life.

After our Holy Hour in the Lower Chapel we will gather in Powers Hall for a potluck dinner and fellowship. Bring a dish or beverage to share and invite a friend or neighbor to come along! To help us plan for the evening, please RSVP…

This Sunday, January 7 is the First Sunday of the Month – Family Mass and Youth Mass are at St. John!

This Sunday, January 7 is the First Sunday of the Month – Family Mass and Youth Mass are at St. John!

Just a reminder that this Sunday, January 7 is the first Sunday of the month, and that means that the Sunday 9:00am Family Mass and 5:00pm Youth Mass will be celebrated at St. John Church.

Yes, we were at St. John last Sunday too, but that’s because December had three Sundays and we’re at St. John on the 1st, 3rd, and 5th Sundays of the month. And yes, it’s a little confusing, but luckily it doesn’t happen too often!

Winter Weather Policy and Information on Cancellations

Winter Weather Policy and Information on Cancellations

In severe weather situations, it may be necessary to cancel Masses and other events and activities. Decisions regarding the cancellation of Masses and other programs are always made with the safety of our parishioners, staff, and clergy at the forefront. In all things, God gave us the gifts of wisdom, reason, and prudence. Whether there are cancellations or not, please make the best decision for yourself and your family when considering travel in severe weather.

Cancellation announcements will be sent to the Collaborative email list and posted on our website and social media. A recorded announcement will be available by calling either parish office when possible. We will do our best to give as much notice as possible in the event of cancellations, and we thank you for your understanding and patience.

Cardinal O’Malley Statement on Fiducia Supplicans

Cardinal O’Malley Statement on Fiducia Supplicans

Following is the Cardinal’s statement on “Fiducia Supplicans,” issued by the Dicastery for the Doctrine of the Faith on December 18, 2023 and approved by Pope Francis.

“We thank the Holy Father for his love and care of all the people in the flock. We caution and make clear that the Holy Father has not endorsed gay marriage, but has recognized all Catholics, including those whose unions are not recognized by the Church, as equally in need of God’s grace and love.

It is the Church’s mission to share God’s blessings…
