We are overjoyed to welcome back choristers from the summer break to the choirs in the Collaborative. If you are interested in singing, no matter your level of experience or skill, we would love to have you in our ranks.
All choirs will be back in action on the weekend of September 7-8.
There are many opportunities to sing each week:
Saturday 5:00pm Vigil Mass (St. John) – Sung by the St. John the Evangelist Parish Choir
Sunday 9:00am Family Mass (Rotating) – Sung by the NEW SJSP Children’s Choir
Sunday 11:00am Mass (St. Paul) – Sung by the St. Paul Parish Choir
Sunday 5:00pm Youth Mass (Rotating) – Sung by the Sunday 5pm Youth Music Group
Our Parish Choirs are mixed voice ensembles comprised of volunteers and professional section leaders that serve the Saturday 5:00pm Vigil Mass (SJE)and Sunday 11:00am Mass (SP). The repertoire for these choirs spans a broad range of genres and styles from Gregorian chant and polyphony up to brand new modern works being composed for the church today. The St. Paul Parish Choir rehearses on Thursday evenings in the sanctuary of St. Paul Church. The St. John the Evangelist Parish Choir rehearses on Saturdays at 4:00pm before the 5:00pm Vigil Mass at St. John. Our NEW SJSP Collaborative Children’s Choir starts Sunday, September 8 to sing for the 9:00am Family Mass. The Children’s Choir is comprised of students in Grades 3-7 (with some flexibility, just ask!) We will rehearse at 8:15am each Sunday morning before the 9:00am Family Mass. This choir will specialize in singing approachable and appropriate music for their age level as well as learning about reading music, and healthy vocal production and singing in a fun and exciting environment. The Sunday 5pm Youth Music Group is a fun and easy-going group of singers and musicians serving the Sunday 5pm Youth Mass. All High School and Grade 8 students are invited and encouraged to join! Participation in this group can be used for Confirmation service hours or school service requirements. Most importantly, your participation will serve to help the faith journey of your peers and the wider community, as well as your own! We gather each week at 4:00pm to rehearse before Sunday 5:00pm Mass – please join us!
