Young Adult Ministry: Another Great Event and Planning for the Future

On Saturday, May 10, the SJSP Young Adults gathered for an evening of Games & Gumbo at the St. John Rectory.

The group welcomed new members as we bid farewell to our friends the Rackleys, who will be moving away this summer. As a parting gift, the New Orleans-natives treated the group to homemade gumbo and we enjoyed an evening filled with fun games, great joy and lots of camaraderie!

The Young Adult Planning Team is in the process of planning events for this summer and visioning for the fall– keep your eyes on this space for upcoming events! And if you’re a young adult between ages 21 and 40 sign up for our contact list so you never miss an update!

Young Adult Ministry Happenings

Young Adult Ministry Happenings

SJSP Young Adult Ministry topped off its great Lenten programming with a final Theology at the Table event featuring our pastor, Father Jim! The group enjoyed an evening of conversation and community as they shared a homemade meal at the St. John Rectory– and even had to extend their usually full table to make room for more seats!

The night culminated in a Q&A session where participants asked Fr. Jim about everything from his vocation story and favorite Russian cuisine to his thoughts on young people in the church and how to best share one’s faith with others. What a gift to share together!

With the Easter season soon upon us, our Young Adult Ministry will be hosting a “Games & Gumbo” Night on Saturday, May 10th at 6:00pm in the St. John Rectory…

Young Adult Ministry: “Theology at the Table” – March 22 and April 4

This Lent, Young Adults in and around the Collaborative are invited to join us for “Theology at the Table.” A unique spin on Theology on Tap, using the dining room table the SJSP Young Adult Ministry has come to love, these dinners will offer an opportunity to gather with a special guest to discuss topics and grow in faith and community.

Our guest on March 22, Kayla August, a PhD Candidate at Boston College, will share with us about her own call as a preacher and to explore and reflect on the Burning Bush moments of our own lives.  Our guest on April 4 needs no introduction – our pastor, Fr. Jim!

These dinners are open to young adults aged 21 to 40. Please register for one or both of these wonderful evenings by visiting…

Using the Ignatian concept of cura personalis (care of the whole person) as a starting point, Sr. Colleen Gibson, SSJ, and Br. Matt Wooters, SJ, explore more deeply what it means to put hope, joy and community at the heart of all we do.

In a world where we are often isolated, is it possible to put community at the center of our lives? How can we form communities of hope and joy?

Young Adult Ministry: Valentine’s Day Cookie Swap

Love was in the air as young adults from the Collaborative gathered for a Valentine’s Day Cookie Swap on Saturday, February 8th. The group shared homemade cookies and everyone left with an assortment of sweet treats!

Before going to the 5PM Vigil Mass at St. John, participants shared about people (and pets!) who exemplify God’s love in their lives and then they made Valentine cards to let their loved ones know how much they care!
