Kelly Meraw, Director of Pastoral Care and Liturgy, led our Loaves & Fishes Family Session on “Jesus’ Life and Ministry.”

As a Collaborative family we looked at many different ways Jesus has been depicted, in art and our own imaginations! We learned, as one student shared “that Jesus can look a lot of different ways” and that as one parent shared, “Jesus is always our home.”

We learned that Jesus chose to become fully human but was also fully God. The students learned about the four big reasons Jesus became incarnate for us: to demonstrate an inclusive table, to teach, to heal, and to make us whole with God’s forgiveness.

While the children were engaged in projects with the Children’s Faith Formation team, the adults discussed their own images of Jesus and their favorite Gospel stories, and Kelly talked about how they can begin to share those images and stories with their kids at home. They then worked on a list of four things they would want their child to know about Jesus, before pairing up and sharing those ideas with another adult – one they did not know!

When the kids returned to the group, they were given an assignment to ask their adult in the car on the way home, “What is one thing you want me to know about Jesus?” to get the conversation started!
