September 3: Commemoration of St. Phoebe

September 3: Commemoration of St. Phoebe

I commend to you Phoebe our sister,
who is also a minister (diakonos) of the church at Cenchreae,
that you may receive her in the Lord in a manner worthy of the holy ones,
and help her in whatever she may need from you,
for she has been a benefactor to many
and to me as well.

Romans 16:1,2

Paul introduces Phoebe as sister, deacon and patron. Deacons are purveyors of Liturgy, Word and Charity. They see what needs to be done in God’s name. Theirs is a ministry of service. Phoebe served as a mother of the ancient Church, preaching the Good News of Christ’s resurrection. As our Church continues in an ongoing discernment regarding restoring women to the Permanent Diaconate (two Vatican commissions have been dedicated to it!), let us pray this weekend for the intercession of St. Phoebe, Deacon…

Sunday 9:00am Family Mass Music Opportunities

Sunday 9:00am Family Mass Music Opportunities

Children and adults blend voice and instruments to praise the Lord and enrich our Sunday 9:00am Family Mass with upbeat, child-friendly, hand-clapping hymns.  We rehearse each Sunday Morning at 8:30am in the church to prepare for that day’s 9:00am Mass (no need to commit to every Sunday), and we also prepare special liturgies for Grade Level Masses, Advent, Christmas, Lent, Palm Sunday and Easter.

All ages, Grade 1 and older, are welcome! We are always seeking new singers and instrumentalists to join our ranks.

Our first rehearsal and Mass is Sunday, September 11 at St. Paul – rehearsal at 8:30am and Mass at 9:00am…
